As many in central Indiana saw on the news , 4 cats were brutally beaten and killed in Cicero, IN the week of July 27. Cicero is a small community about 25 miles north of Indianapolis. Three out of the 4 cats were indoor/outdoor pets, but it doesn't matter what they were, they were living creatures. There has been a proven link between people who commit violence against animals, and those who go on to commit violence against people. Injury or killing animals is often just a stepping stone for people to "move up" to hurting other people. Communities must not turn a blind eye to this kind of violence if they want to protect themselves, their pets and their children from people who would brutalize the innocent and the helpless. To make a strong stand against this kind of violence, Humane Society for Hamilton County and Feral Bureau of Indiana (FBI) have joined together offering a total reward of up to $1500 for information leading to arrest and conviction in the brutal killings of the Cicero cats. We are posting flyers in Cicero, in the area of the killings. We hope that this reward will give more emphasis to the value of the lives of these and all cats, even if they live outside. If you have any information, contact the Cicero Police Department at 317-773-1282. If you would like to donate to the reward fund, please use the convenient "Donations" box on the left bar of the home page, or you may send a check to:
